We have some wonderful cheeses to share with subscribers in our Cheese Club for the month of April.
Our Cheese Club members have the chance to taste some gorgeous Canadian cheeses that we specially select each month. If you’re interested in learning more, just visit our Almonte Cheese Club page.
In April 2026, we featured three delightful cheeses, two from Ontario and one from Quebec.
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese, Woodstock, Ontario
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese is a small artisan cheese plant in Oxford County, Ontario.
The milk used to create the cheeses comes from the Ysselstein family dairy farm run by Shep’s father and four brothers.
Brigid’s Brie
This soft cow’s cheese, Brigid’s Brie, offers sweet cream, butter and salty flavours with notes of fresh mushroom. Wild grasses and flowers flavour the milk used to produce the cheese. Bring to room temperature to enjoy all of what this cheese has to offer.
Suggested wine / beer: Chardonnay, or a Beaujolais When choosing a beer, try a hoppy Pale Ale.
Fromagerie P’tit Plaisir, Saint-Gérard-de-Weedon, Québec
This family-run business is composed of six members: Gaétan and Céline Grenier (farmers since 1976), along with their two sons and two daughters.
All of their products — cheese, butter, ice cream and gelato — are manufactured from the milk of a single dairy herd and do not contain any modified dairy substances or preservatives.
Fleur de Weedon
Fleur de Weedon, with its painted yellow rind, has a flavour that is mildly sharp, slightly nutty, with a pleasantly mild almost fruity sweetness and a slight bite at the finish.
Suggested wine / beer: Medium bodied red wines, such as a Pinot Noir. It also pairs nicely with a Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc. A medium amber or Lager would pair well.
Kampkreek Dairies, Strafford, Ontario
Kampkreek Dairies is an operation built by five siblings in a continuation of a third-generation farm in Ontario.
Their goal is to provide fresh water buffalo dairy products from their farm to your home.

Blyth Mild Gouda
The water buffalo Blyth Gouda has a porcelain white appearance due to the lack of beta-carotene in water buffalo milk, which does not turn the cheese yellow. The Blyth gouda is described as having a mild and buttery flavour. Being made from water buffalo milk, it inherits a rich, slightly sweet, and creamy taste that is less acidic than cow’s milk alternatives. A smooth, creamy, and classic Gouda with gentle, nutty notes.
Suggested wine / beer: A Pinot Noir or a Gamay are good wine choices. A dry white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or a dry Riesling would complement this cheese, as would a Kolsch style beer.
