Gourmet jarred sauces
Charr is an Oakville-based food company, founded by Samoneh. She creates sauces that highlight flavours found in curries, including cardamon, cinnamon, and clove.
Those exciting flavours from around the world will spruce up your weeknight supper or weekend grill. You may want to make more so you extend the pleasure with savory leftovers!
BBQ Sauces by Charr
She calls them BBQ sauces but think beyond the grill. They are great as a marinade, for a stir fry, or to stir into rice or curries. Although not certified organic, all of the sauces are vegan, gluten, and nut-free and dairy-free. Big flavors, zero worries. We have 3 flavours in stock:
Middle Eastern: The Middle Eastern Shish Tawook has roots in the Ottoman Empire, featuring a tangy marinade made with the finest whole spices and infused with fragrant sumac. We grilled chicken thighs with this one. We marinaded the thighs for 4 hours, then BBQd them at medium heat, basting with the marinade sauce each time we flipped them. It was fantastic!
Mediterranean: This Mediterranean Kofta marinade for ground meat encapsulates culinary diversity from Europe to South Asia. Mediterranean spices are blended to create a flavorful marinade. It’s next on our list to feature in a meal. We bought some minced lamb at the farmer’s market from Sticks and Stone Farm to savour a nice Kofta on rice. We will make enough to make sandwiches with pita bread and tzatziki. Yum!
Indian: Tandoori, meaning from a clay oven, was popularized in the 1940s in northern India. A medley of unique spices blends with our twist of coconut to give it a bold, rich flavor.
Maple Chili Drizzle
This short line of Drizzles are not Hot Honey nor Chilli, they are pure Canadian Maple with depth, texture, and serious flavour. You can drizzle them over eggs, pizza, vegetables or use it to spice and jazz up any food you like. We carry 2 flavours:
Maple Chilli Drizzle – Original: Pure Canadian Grade A maple syrup meets chilli, garlic and aromatics in a rich drizzle that wakes up whatever’s on your plate. Sweet, savoury, layered, and endlessly drizzleable. We used this one on a stir fry and it was just the perfect level of spice!
Maple Chilli Drizzle – Truffle: Again this drizzle is made from pure Canadian Grade A maple syrup, white truffle, chilli and aromatics in an earthy-sweet drizzle that transforms simple meals into something exceptional. Imagine what it could bring to a pizza or a pasta dish!
